Sports injuries could keep Michael Kightly of Wolverhampton Wanderers on the sidelines for up to eight weeks, it has been reported. The 23-year old winger is likely to need an operation on his ankle at some point in the near future, according to the club's manager Mick McCarthy.
He sustained the injury during the side's 1-0 home defeat at the hands of Birmingham at the weekend.
Commenting on the situation, McCarthy said: "He's had a scan and it looks like he'll need an operation which would be six to eight weeks out."
He added: "The way he went over and rolled his ankle, apparently he's quite lucky and it could have been worse."
McCarthy stressed that Kightly has not yet had chance to show his full potential and said that he hopes to see the England Under-21 international back in action before too much longer.
