Back pain is one of the problems that can be caused by the persistent wearing of high heels, according to experts. The unnatural posture enforced by such shoes can compress the spinal nerve and distort its alignment, the Daily Mail reports.
In a feature on the medical effects of wearing this kind of footwear, the paper also noted that doctors have linked them to headaches by constricting blood vessels and nerves, in addition to the most common problem of bunions.
This followed the publication of footage showing frequent high heels-wearer Victoria Beckham suffering with the bony growths.
Women who are suffering back pain due to wearing high heels frequently may find that home ultrasound treatment eases their discomfort.
Last week, a report from the Mount Sinai Medical Centre in the US revealed that those who carried heavy backpacks in childhood could be vulnerable to back injuries and also to longer-term problems in later life.
